The Township of Georgian Bay special council meeting was held on August 4, 2015 to allow the public, Mayor and councilors an opportunity to ask questions about the logging project scheduled for this fall at the north end of Six Mile Lake between Highway 400, South Gibson Lake Rd, Bayview Rd, Archie’s Rd and Sugar Loaf Lane.

A the meeting a special resolution was passed by council. The resolution supports residents concerns about the use of Archie’s and Sugar Loaf cottage roads, safety, the impact on the environment, species at risk protection, and that the agreements reached with MNRF and Westwind Stewardship be met in full. It also comments on the outstanding issues with expectations that they also be met as agreed to. The resolution cannot change the process but will help support residents concerns about the conditions negotiated over the resolution process with the MNRF be upheld.
