Parks Canada has embarked on unprecedented infrastructure work to preserve assets located within national historic sites, national parks and national marine conservation areas across Canada over the next four years. To date, the Trent-Severn Waterway National Historic Site has announced more than $600M worth of investments into the dams, bridges, locks, and canals that make up the waterway.

As a part of these important investments, Parks Canada has announced funding to rehabilitate and reconstruct select dams in the Six Mile Lake area in the Township of Georgian Bay and District of Muskoka.

Our first major milestone toward this rehabilitation has been achieved. The design contract has been awarded to CIMA +. In the coming weeks we will be able to provide more specific details about the designer’s investigation schedule and, in future, will be able to provide a planned schedule for construction.

As part of this infrastructure work, the two Six Mile Lake dams, Whites Portage Dam, the Pretty Channel Dams, Hungry Bay Dam, Crooked Bay Dam and Little Go Home Bay Dam will be repaired. These repairs are important for maintaining the structural integrity and water management of these seven dams.
