At the 2016 AGM, a motion was put forward for the SMLCA to look at our mission statement and mandate. As part of this effort, we are sending a small survey respecting our involvement with different issues that affect our lake and community.
We are asking our Members, to let us know what you think our level of involvement should be on each item. This is an opportunity to provide us feedback on our level of activity with issues such as: Logging and sustainable forestry; garbage collection; building variance applications; items relating to our Official Plan, Community Plan, & zoning bylaws; water levels; and marine safety.
The SMLCA has a long and successful history of working with the various governmental agencies and third parties on these issues – and many others. It seems appropriate at this point in our history to gauge the level of interest of our Membership in continuing or changing that involvement.
This survey has been sent to our Members predominantly through email however, for those Members who have chosen hardcopy communications, the survey has been mailed by Canada Post to your address. If you have not received your invitation to the survey either through email or standard mail and you believe you should have, please contact us at the coordinates below.
The deadline for submission is July 4, 2017 so that we may tabulate and present results at the AGM.
Unique keys have been assigned to ensure that each Member property completes only one survey. For clarity, this is not a survey of the community rather a survey specific to our Members. As such, each voting Member whose dues are paid for the 2017 membership year are entitled to one survey response – this means one survey response per current Member property.
Depending on the outcome of this survey, we may follow-up with more specific and detailed questions on some of these issues.
Please take a moment and respond to this brief survey with your opinion as a member of the SMLCA. We will respect the opinions of the majority of respondents in clarifying our mandate and determining our future activities.
If you have difficulty completing the survey, or have questions, please email us at survey@sixmilelake.net or contact Sarah McKinney, Secretary at 647-823-8458.
