-Council submitted another successful performance review for our Chief Administration Officer

-Myself, along with District and Trent Severn Waterway (TWS) staff will assess a water quality situation of algae plumes and weed control in front of a number of cottages in Little Go Home Bay, Gloucester Pool.

-TWS presented plans to refurbish the control dams in Port Severn starting this fall, repair all control structures on Six Mile Lake(SML) and to replace the SML Channel and White’s Falls dams to increase outflows.

-Xplornet is assessing options to install a 200 ft. internet tower in Minor’s Bay, Go Home Lake that should reach much of central Georgian Bay (GB) south to Gloucester Pool.

-Public comments were provided on development proposals for a few undersized islands in GB. Staff will prepare recommendations for our July meeting.

-All the Peer Reviews of the various consultant site plan reports (environmental, transportation, septic system, etc.) are underway for the Macey Bay trailer park proposal. A Public Open House on these reports will be held in TO and locally this fall.

-the SML Interim Control By-law should be lifted in Aug. or Sept. with a report from staff. It will provide clarity and guidance to the Committee of Adjustment when reviewing variances for oversized cottage proposals on SML. A lake wide survey on changing the Gross Floor Area limit has been left with the two lake associations.

-the 2018 budget deliberations have begun for final approval in January. Those organizations wishing to delegate to Council need to schedule a time at the Aug 15 Committee of the Whole.

-There was an extensive discussion on our noise by-law and complaints from rental cottages. Complaints should first go to the OPP, followed by an email to the Township. Our By-Law Officers will follow up.

-Cottage assoc. on GB will be provided information so they can review potential errors to the zone mapping of small islands and send corrections to the Planning Dept.

-Council reconfirmed their support for no Sunday gun hunting in the Township due to its seasonal population. Further conformation of support will be reviewed at Assoc. Annual General Meetings this summer.

-With entrances to Federal Parks being free this year, the Township in working with Parks Canada to prepare for traffic problems in Honey Harbour this summer.

-Further Canada 150 funds have been provided to MacTier for bike rakes and bleachers and the Honey Harbour Jazz Festival.
