- No parking signs will eventually be placed along the road at Whites Falls on Muskoka Road 34 (road to the Big Chute).
- We had a very informative and deeply concerning presentation from the cottagers adjacent to the Pretty Channel Dam on the Severn River (above the Big Chute). Campers are using chainsaws on live trees, destroying the snowmobile bridge, stealing picnic tables all for fire wood. One camper has drowned this year. There have been guns going off at all hours and one camper has been shot. The OPP have taken action. The lands are owned by Parks Canada, MNR and the road allowance by the Township. All parties, including the Township are reviewing legal options to limit camping in future.
- The Upper Lakes Plan of Study Revision Team, established by the International Joint Commission, is holding a consultation session in Parry Sound on Sept. 1. 5:00 p.m. at the West Parry Sound District Museum to discuss issues related to the water levels and flows of the upper Great Lakes.
