  • Four significant By-laws were passed after a lengthy Public Meeting. See the Township’s website at www.township.georgianbay.on.ca for details.
    • For Georgian Bay, north of Honey Harbour, docks are limited to 2 per property with frontages less then 400 feet. Dock lengths cannot exceed 66 feet. Additional docks are allowed for properties greater then 400 feet.
    • For Georgian Bay, north of Honey Harbour, dwelling heights will be limited to 7 metres (23 feet) as measured 1/2 way up the roof peak.
    • Trent-Severn Waterway properties will have lot coverage increase from 7% to 10%.
    • Non-conforming dwellings ( cottages within 66 feet of the water) will be limited in their expansion.
  • Council passed a motion to not support the proposal by Orillia Power Corporation to develop the Sandy Gray Waterpower Project (main inflow to Go Home Lake) and to maintain Gray Rapid Falls and Flatrock Lake in a pristine manner.
  • Township residential assessments are up 40.9%. If your increase is above this average, you can expect a tax increase. The Township tax rate (mill rate) will be lowered to meet the new 2006 budget which will be similar to the present 2005 budget. The Township does not automatically get more money when assessments go up.
