- A Community Safety Zone, where speeding fines doubled, was approved for part of Stewart Street in MacTier. The District will be asked to approve a zone for High Street, which is the main road into town.
- The Ministry of Transport’s ‘Move Ontario-Improving Roads and Bridges Budget Initiative’ has allocated $84,612 to the township for general road construction.
- A By-Law was passed to update some definitions in By-Law 91-19 (boathouses, floor areas of sleeping cabins over garages and accessory buildings, height of buildings, lot frontages, etc.).
- By-Law 2006-15, that would have restricted the size of accessory buildings to 720 sq. ft. or 75% of the dwelling size, is being revised. Council is seeking comments on the following sizes: Properties on Georgian Bay north of Honey Harbour (all water access)- 720 sq. ft. All other properties (mostly road access) – 1200 sq.ft. There will be no percent of dwelling limit.
- The District of Muskoka updated Council on the new Clean Water Act, Bill 43 and its provision for source water protection for the MacTier and Port Severn drinking water supply.
Plans will be developed to ensure long term clean water for these two plants. - An industry representative presented concerns with the Township’s Fertilizer/Pesticide ban. The District has developed a pamphlet and training workshop on Healthy Lawn and Gardens. The pamphlet is available at the link below.
