- Council is increasing its use of Site Control Plans on most variances that request cottage sites closer to the lake. In addition, we are starting to also request Construction Mitigation Plans. These later plans are designed to ensure greater protection to mature trees and vegetation that might be damaged during development and will be in force for several years after construction.
- Hats off to Cognashene Lake who, in partnership with the Georgian Bay Association, will attempt to eliminate the release of phosphorous to their water body.
- The Grand Opening of the new Township Office is now scheduled for Thursday evening, August 24,2006. There will be a formal presentation followed by a public open house.
- South Bay Cove Marina, Honey Harbour has been granted 3 additional slips.
- Peter Foulds updated Council on the Go Home Bay/Madawaska Club Community Plan. They hope to have both their Official Plan Amendment and Zoning By-laws approved by Council this fall. Cognashene Association hopes to also do the same this fall.
- A joint District and Township open house is scheduled for August 17 to discuss the new Port Severn Village. Environmental, economic and social issues will be discussed for this 259 acres of 18 hole golf course, 494 housing units, marina, etc.
