Township Council Meeting of Dec. 13th

  • I informed council that a meeting has been arranged in Barrie for Dec. 15th to put a process in place that will lead to an improved water quality monitoring program for the Township. The meeting of experts will lead to a program to address routine annual monitoring and remedial actions for “hot spots”.
  • 2010 budget, in general, is in good shape. A draft 2011 budget will be available by the end of Jan. Council and staff are meeting early in Jan. to discuss campaign promises that might require $$
  • Staff presented some ideas on a Communication Strategy. We will use print media (more for locals) and internet systems for seasonal – e mails, twitter, Facebook and You-Tube, etc. We may be required to learn new tricks (or twitter).
  • Jim Bowden presented ideas for our revised Procedural By-Law. This policy is how Council performs their duties (roles and responsibilities, meetings, delegations, committees etc). We are going back to per 2006 concepts. The new By-law should be available by the end of Jan.
  • I will be the Township rep. on the Severn Sound Environmental Assoc. and the District WaterShed Council
  • An Ad-Hoc Committee for Open Space Zoning Review will be formed early in the New Year. Please think about a rep.

District Council Inaugural Meeting – Dec. 15th

  • After 2 tied votes by Council (11/11) a third vote defeated the long standing District Chair – Gord Adams. John Klinck, former Mayor of Gravenhurst is now the Chair of District Council.

That is all. Have a good Christmas and New Year and I will be back in contact in Jan. Our 1st Township Council meeting is Jan. 17

Please keep in touch.
