Highlights of your Area Council Meeting for October 17, 2011:

• Council agreed to assume 1.3km of Berwick Road once it is brought up to municipal standards by the Road Association. Council also requested that Public Works Portfolio look into options to assist Road Assoc. in maintaining short sections of roads. Contractors are not interested in maintaining short roads especially if there are remote.
• Solar panels will be placed on a number of Township facilities next year – Baxter Community Centre, P.S Fire Hall, MacTier Arena/Work Yard & Library, etc.
• Open Space and Water Quality Committees were extended until the end of the year and then a review of their activities will be assessed. Starting in 2012, Portfolio Chairs (individual Councillors) will work with the public on issues and report back to the Committee of the Whole for further discussions. Ad Hoc Committees will no longer be formed due to a number of legal and administrative concerns.
