- The Council meeting started with condolences and two Irish Prayers for the passing of Councillor Mike Kennedy. A white rose (for the colour of his hair) noted his absent seat.
- Our 2013 Financial Audit was approved. No major surprises.
- Council affirmed our participation in the federal gas tax fund with AMO which brings in about $72K/year.
- The Township will take a 3 year holiday from the collection of commercial Development Charges to see if this will stimulate local development.
- The Township will switch and award our annual insurance premium to BFL Canada for $191K which is $29K less then last year.
- Our July and August Council meetings will be combined into one set of meetings on July 31 and Aug. 1.
- The $2M contract, of which $1.8 is grant money, to finish Hasketts Road on Six Mile Lake will be released on July 31.
- The Request for Proposal for the Honey Habour Waterfront Development was approved and released today. The final report is due by the end of the year.
- Council approved the formation of a citizen committee to review the final CPR underpass project in MacTier. There are several outstanding local concerns.
- A request to hire a consultant to review the standing water issue in MacTier was referred to the Water Quality Committee for a recommendation to Council on July 31.
- Council agreed to negotiate the shore road allowance around the Delawana Resort but will leave out the area around the north beach which could be used by the community in the future.
- The next Public Meeting to finalize the Zoning-By law is set for Aug. 16th. It is hoped that the By-law will be approved at our Nov. meeting.
- Staff will be preparing a By-law to restrict the use of fireworks after 11:00 p.m.
- Council approved a model that may see our fire department activities amalgamated with Muskoka Lakes. This will benefit the MacTier and Foot’s Bay Halls which are only 4 km. apart and in poor repair. One new facility can benefit both Townships.
- The Township will probable receive the downloading of the responsibilities for future subdivision and condominium approvals from the District.
