Hello Six Mile Lake Cottagers

Additional heart-felt thank-yous

Last week, we sent out an e-blast thanking a long list of volunteers, donors, and sponsors for helping make our regatta, fireworks, and golf tournament the best ever. We had an overwhelming amount of support and donations this year, and a long list of individuals and companies to thank. Please join us in applauding some of our extremely generous donors:

We would like to highlight one of our very own Six Mile Lake residents and owner of M&M Food Market in Barrie who generously donated and delivered 600 delicious hot dogs to us. We want to also recognize the amazing donation of an additional 250 hotdogs from Foodland in Penetanguishene and Freshmart in Bala who donated all the hotdog buns, Paul’s No Frills in Midland for donating drinks and condiments, as well as the Foodland in Coldwater for drinks.

Please show your appreciation for their generosity by not only shopping at their locations, but stopping in, personally speaking to the manager and thanking them for their gracious support for our Regatta.

One of the premier gifts that helped make our silent auction a huge success was a sommelier guided personal wine tasting for seven people worth $700, donated by Alison Vidug from At the Lake. Thank you, Alison for your generosity.

Everyone is familiar with the pontoon ice cream boat that travels the lake in the summer. But did you know that the boat is run by Liz Rabinovich and her husband Jeff, a retired couple who love meeting people and bringing joy to the kids? Not only did they give up one of their premium sales days on July 1st weekend to help the association with their ice cream giveaway, but this August long weekend they also donated the proceeds of their sales to the SMLCA and gave us $500! Thank you for being great community citizens.

2023 Membership Drive

After several months of ironing out wrinkles, we are proud to announce that our new membership management software has gone live. By now you should have received an email inviting you to renew your SMLCA membership (if you have not done so already) and create a profile. If after checking your spam folder, you still havent received that email, please let Sarah McKinney know at membership@sixmilelake.net . You’ll now have the ability to:

  • View and download invoices
  • View any donations you’ve made
  • Edit your contact information (i.e. mailing address and phone number)
  • View your directory listing details
  • Make your contact info public to other Members

As we rollout further, there’ll be other benefits exclusively available to SMLCA members. Your association dues fund the many good programs that make Six Mile Lake the awesome place it is. We thank Sarah McKinney for her tireless effort in getting this mammoth project off the ground.

Volunteers Needed in September

As you may know, SMLCA has been participating in the Canadian Wildlife Federation’s and Watersheds Canada’s “Love Your Lake” program this summer. In case you missed it, there was a survey sent out a few months ago and is available online at https://loveyourlake.ca/values-survey/.

We have now almost completed the hands-on portion of this project, but we still need some help in September. We have a committed young person willing to work through the month to get the SML component done, but he needs a second person in his boat for safety reasons. If you are on the lake in September and have any time, whether a half day, or full day, please let us know at info@sixmilelake.net . This is a great opportunity for retirees who have day time hours available to volunteer.
