Canada’s 150th Celebrations on Six Mile

Summer is fast approaching and so we bring you an update on the plans for the Six Mile Lake Canada’s 150th birthday celebrations.

Geocaching – July 1st NEW

Added for the July 1st long weekend is a new Geocache sponsored by the SMLCA. Please read all about it here: http://sixmilelake.net/news/events-canada-150th-celebrations-sml-geocache/.

Lake Cookbook  – Regatta weekend

Recipes

  • The lake cookbook has reached 200 recipes and they are wonderful. Mary is extending the deadline for recipes till the end of June.
  • Use the recipe template (remember to save the file before attaching it to an email). If it is easier to photo copy, scan or type the recipe in an email, Mary is taking the recipes any way they come to her.
  • You can even drop them off her at cottage. If she is not there, just leave them in the backporch.

Preorder

  • To help gauge how many cookbooks to print, there will be a sign up list and you can place orders at the AGM meeting July 9th.
  • We will be taking a deposit of $10.00 to hold a book for you.
  • Mary says she is already hearing that cottagers want more copies than just one, for family and friends.
  • The cookbook is not expected to cost more than $20.00, to be determined by the size of the final book and how many copies we print. This will be a one time only printing.

Photo contest

  • Looking for colour photos to be featured in the cook book, of scenery, and wildlife and cottage life from around the lake.
  • There will be a limit of only 2 photo submissions from each person. So send her your best. Contact her at Mary.Boddy@SixMileLake.net.
  • These must be submitted by Friday June 23rd. She needs time to have the graphic art work done and meet the printer’s deadline.

Artist Tour – July 22nd, 23rd    10 – 4pm

There are 14 artists participating. These artists will be at the SMLCA AGM with samples of their art creations. They will be introduced at the meeting and a map with their locations will be available at that time. Write ups and photos of the artists works will be posted on the Associations sixmilelake.net website before the AGM on July 9th.

Contact Mary if you have any questions about the artist tour and would still like to join the tour.

Historical Building tour – has moved to August 12th.

In order to accommodate the cottage owners, the date for this tour has moved to August. More details about it will be forthcoming.

Ice Cream Give Away – July 15th or 16th

The date will depend on the weather, and will be held from 1:30 to 3:30. Locations will be announced at the AGM and posted on the Association sixmilelake.net website.
