Hi and happy summer Six Mile Lake cottagers:

Here is what is happening on the lake over the next three weeks.

We are now experiencing the busiest part of the year for those on the board at the SMLCA. Our biggest event, the regatta has so many moving parts to coordinate with lining up volunteers, organizing food, trophies and raffle prizes, getting the snake people and first aid attendants involved, cleaning up and setting up the site. Our thanks go to Ted Mackay for organizing the event this year. It’s not too late to donate raffle prizes and or volunteer. Contact Ted at ted.mackay@sixmilelake.net. Having enough canoes makes a big difference in the smooth running of the races. If you have an old canoe you can loan us to use for the canoe races please let us know. Bring it with you and write your name on it and on paddles. If you would like to loan us one, but won’t be going to the event please contact harold.toiviainen@sixmilelake.net and we will arrange to have it picked up.

We are also still looking for donations toward our site improvement fund. These funds will go toward the cost of re-building the ramp for the new swim dock as well as replacing one of the outhouses. To donate please go to https://sixmilelake.net/asp-products/dock-donation/ you can donate online. As little as $50 can make a big difference.

It looks like the weather has cooperated with enough rain to lower the fire rating and we have raised enough money to put on another great fireworks show this year. We are still looking for volunteers to fill the sandbags next week and to help load the barge with fireworks and equipment on Friday August 4th and returning on Sunday August 6th. Contact craig.cameron@sixmilelake.net if you are interested in helping out.

Important Notice only 2 days left to register for the 17th annual SMLCA golf tournament which will be held on August 8th at Bonaire Golf Course in Coldwater. It’s a great opportunity to come out and play golf with your cottage neighbours.
