There have been concerns circulating regarding the lake association’s request to amend the Six Mile Lake Community Plan section of the Township Official Plan. In particular, people are concerned that the amendment will prevent them from requesting variances if the amendment is approved.
The amendment, if approved, will not limit anyone’s ability to request or to obtain a variance for their property nor will it change the zoning for anyone’s property. It is not the intention of this amendment nor the lake association to limit anyone’s right to request a variance.
Nonetheless, it is apparent that the lake association has not done a good job of communicating the reasons for and ramifications of the request.
We hope to fix that with a Questions and Answers sheet that you can read at OPA Q&A.pdf.
Next week, we will be sending each property owner on Six Mile Lake a letter that includes the same Q&A sheet, a Township Notice and a personalized code to complete an on-line survey regarding the amendment. The survey will be open throughout the month of February and we will post the results on our website in the second week of March. We will post a link to the survey on our website and will also send it out to our email list.
