Important news about the municipal election
There will be a municipal election. on Monday October 24th. You can vote in our municipality even if you have a primary residence and vote elsewhere. Many municipals are acclaimed, but there is a race between two candidates in Ward 3. All of Six Mile Lake falls into Ward 3: Kristian Graziano and David Miller. In the interest of fairness, the SMLCA does not endorse either candidate.
So that you can get to know them better, the Six Mile Lake Cottagers Association is holding a Zoom meeting on October 12th, at 6:30 p.m. to meet these two candidates and ask them questions. If you cannot make it at that time, we will save a recording for viewing later. Each candidate making a brief statement and answer a series of questions submitted in advance. You will also have an opportunity to ask questions live after the presentations. Please submit questions to info@sixmilelake.net. We will be publishing a link for the Zoom meeting closer to the event date. Stay tuned.
You need to register to vote and the voter registration portal is now open. Check to see if you are on the list by going to https://ovs.voterview.ca/voterlist/home/4465 . Voting is very easy. You can vote online, or over the phone. I’ve voted in the past by mail. Is that not allowed this time? You can see an informational video on how to vote here. You are eligible to vote if you are:
- A Canadian citizen.
- At least eighteen (18) years old.
- Residing in the local municipality or an owner or tenant of land there, or the spouse of such owner or tenant. Tenant is defined as a person who occupies land or property from a landlord.
