- Being an election year, the schedule for the 2019 budget deliberations will center around the new Council starting in Dec. Public input will be in Jan, with final approval in March.
- We blow an engine in our pumper fire truck in MacTier. Since it was scheduled to be replaced next year, we moved the purchase up to this summer (about $350K from our Capital Fund).
- Based on legal advice, Council passed a resolution to only consider reports on the proposed Macey Bay Trailer Park from staff until the application is in front of us. A recent string of individual resolutions could jeopardize our ongoing negotiations.
- Council approved bringing back the public Planning Committee this Fall. Original members from 2014 will be offered positions to address a number of recent concerns.
- Funding was approved for associations and residents to contact the Invasive Species Coordinator from Severn Sound Environmental Association on aquatic vegetation concerns. This follows from the Weed and Algae Seminar held back in July.
- A resolution will be sent to the District and OPP to provide answers on the licencing and control of Cannabis in Muskoka.
- $5K was approved to assist the Georgian Bay Forever organization to begin a cut of Phragmites this Fall in the wetlands known as Lily Pond in Honey Harbour. The Township will assist in proper disposal.
- The District has been asked to install more guardrails at Six Mile Channel Dam on Whites Falls Road to prevent access to parking for campers.
- The 2 bin sites at Go Home Lake will each receive 2 additional garbage bins during summer months.
