Highlights of your Area Council Meeting for January 14, 2013:

  • Brenda Black, former Treasurer and Director of Administration from the previous Council, has filed a Statement of Claim (Court File No. A-12-4605) in the Ont. Superior Court of Justice against the Township of GB and Jim Walden.
  • Mayor Braid reported on his 6th 125 report on TGB activities. Check it out at: www.gbtownship.ca/content/mayors-desk
  • Council reviewed a number of photos of the continued water level decline around HH. Local Mayors are meeting in Parry Sound in early Feb. to discuss an action plan.
  • TGB is reviewing options to assist commercial businesses to speed up the permitting process for dredging on GB.
  • MPAC is holding an Open House in the TGB on Feb. 8, at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers. A second Open House is planned to reach seasonal residents.
  • The TGB 2013 budget was passed with an average 4.5% increase
  • The 2nd Draft of the Official Plan will be released this month. The Statutory Public Meeting will be on March 28th in the TGB. A second meeting will be held in TO on April 2nd.
  • Passing of the Noise By-law was again deferred to include recent comments.
  • Revised Statistic Canada Census now put our permanent population at 2482, up 5.7% from 2006.
  • I presented the 2012 Inland Water Quality Report funded by the TGB. The report is available on the TGB website… www.gbtownship.ca
  • Next council meeting is Feb 11, 2013
