  • The 7th Annual Mayor’s Golf Tournament raised $24,500, of which all will be divided equally between Radio for Cardiology and Simcoe Muskoka Regional Cancer Centre.
  • Public and Council members commented on a floating boat port being considered on the exposed tip of Moore Point. Because it is in a narrow waterway between a small island and mainland concerns were express about high winds, storms and ice pack. Planning Staff will prepare a report for a Council decision possibly by next month.
  • Staff were asked to consider a requirement to open up the new entrance to the Oak Bay Golf Club off Willow Road (which is off the HH road) as a Condition of Approval for any further developed along the present club house entrance on Links Trail which serves over 50 homes. This new entrance would also keep heavy equipment off this community street.
  • The Township will now assume the maintenance responsibility for all CP property associated with the new railway cross over on Maple Street in MacTier.
  • Before the Township assumes any roads from the District (South Bay, Go Home Lake and South Gibson Lake Roads) the District will need to prepare detailed financial analyses.
  • A letter will be sent to MPP Norm Miller and MP Tony Clement asking then to have a review of the dangers and disturbance created by float planes on small lakes in TGB.
  • Policies were drafted on Event Grants and Customer Service Complaints. Up to $6K (to a max. of $2K/event) will be allotted each year to community groups putting on events in and around the TGB. As part of our continuous improvement to customer service, a new policy outlines the process to follow in addressing compliances in a timely fashion.
  • The Committee of Adjustment is made up of 5 private citizens (for the 4 year term of Council) and 2 Councillors (reviewed each year). For 2018, Councillors Bochek and Douglas have been appointed.
  • The 2018 User Fee Schedule has been approved. The main update is that outstanding building permits (I believe after 3 years) will now cost $100/year instead of $75.year.
