  • The new Township Office and FireHall/Public Works facilities will be enclosed within a few weeks. Both are on schedule and within budget.
  • Council passed a By-law to license dogs and to prohibit the running of dogs at large and to carry out the operation of an animal shelter and a pound.
  • The Township is applying to the Association of Municipalities of Ontario for Federal Gas Tax Revenues under the New Deal for Cities and Communities.
  • The Muskoka Community Network will be working with local high speed access providers to identify the needs within the Township and to obtain Federal funding for deployment.
  • Township staff are working on a new Sign By-law to clarify when and where signs can be erected.
  • Two new subdivisions are being proposed for MacTier on Stewart Lake. Also, the need for an additional CP rail crossing in MacTier was assessed by a consulting firm. The recommendations did not support an additional crossing but to ensure a CP spotter is provided at the existing crossing to break the trains after 5 minute delays.
  • The following minor By-law changes are being considered:
    • The second storey floor area of garages can not be greater then 50% of the main dwelling or 56 square metres, whichever is more restrictive.
    • The floor area of accessory buildings (i.e. garages, sheds, etc.) cannot exceed 75% of the floor area of the main dwelling or 67 square metres, whichever is greater.
    • You will not be allowed to store motor vehicles in boathouses/boatports.
    • For Georgian Bay, lot lines and frontages will be measured from the high water mark 177.4 C.G.D.
