  • The Committee of Adjustment turned down an application for a permanent dock attached to an undersized island (building lot) on Georgian Bay.
  • There was no update from the Project Manager on the Township Office.  We are requesting proposals from 6 contactors for a design-built facility which, due to the sensitive nature of the documents, will be opened and discussed in closed session.  These costs will be compared to renovating the old building which we have now been told must be brought up to existing building codes and Provincial Regulations (for no matter how long we wish to utilize the building).
  • A resident of Six Mile Lake has been fined $5,000 for shoreline work damaging the fisheries.  The fine will be passed onto the Six Mile Lake Cottagers’ Association for fish enhancement work or water quality research.
  • A Midland man has been fined $4,000 for anchoring a floating cottage to an island on Georgian Bay.  The Crown has also seized the cottage.
  • Under the District Long Range Solid Waste Management Environmental Assessment process, a workshop will be held on March 23rd at the District Office to review the evaluation criteria for the alternatives of increased diversion, landfill, incineration, exporting waste outside of Muskoka and the do nothing option.
  • Jim Walden presented his long awaited Taxpayers Study Group report. Councilors were encouraged to comment on the report.
  • A resolution was sent to the District to direct them to enforce their By-law regarding hook ups to the municipal water and sewage systems in the Township.  The By-law allows for a 5 year period and the Port Severn system is over 7 years old.
  • Staff will be preparing a By-law to allow for the use of Township Roads for ATVs for a trial period of 2 years.  The District will be requested to do the same for District roads within the Township.
