The Six Mile Lake Cottagers Association is pleased to present our first Artist’s Tour!

Taking place July 22nd and 23rd from 10am  to 4pm, we have 15 artists showcasing their incredible talent.

John Krahn – C073 – Island 90 (Grand Island)

Beautiful handcrafted cutting boards made with various wood types and creative designs. Each board made with loving care to bring a unique look to your home or cottage.

Joe Hartjes – H008 – 180 Island 2

Joe’s love of wood shows in every piece he handcrafts. Every child on the lake should own a wooden toy made by Joe. Each item is made with exception skill.

Matthew Nixon – W104 – 405 Hasketts Drive

Matthew built his first boat at the age of 15. His family has had a cottage on the lake since 1954. He makes paddles from cedar, pine, maple, mahogany or walnut. He likes to laminate with other distinct woods to keep them light and usable. He will take orders for kids paddles. Matthew builds canoes and kayaks.

Rick Vidug – H019 – 1884 Six Mile Lake Shore

Another of our photographers featured in the Six Mile Lake book. Rick will have canvas photography and Muskoka wood art signs for sale.  Rick is also into aerial video photography. If you would like some aerial video shots of your cottage – Check it out.

Marilyn Rennie – H019 – 1884 Six Mile Lake Shore

Marilyn is best known for her realistic, finely detailed acrylic on canvas paintings. Self-taught, she captures the essence and natural beauty of plants, animals and landscapes.

Kathy House – M008 – 280 Trans Canada Bay Road

Kathy is another exceptional photographer featured in the Six Mile Lake book. Kathy has unique, signature styles of photographic art that you won’t want to miss.  Her large canvases (available for order) proudly hang in several cottages throughout Muskoka. Plus, she has notecards featuring Six Mile Lake scenery.

Cheryl Lindberg – M008 – 280 Trans Canada Bay Road

Cheryl is a retired teacher and grandma who has been cottaging on Six Mile since the sixties.  She enjoys watercolours and some acrylics. Snow scenes are her main inspiration.

Michael Lindberg – M008 – 280 Trans Canada Bay Road

Michael has been cottaging on Six Mile for all of his 35 years.  He has a Music degree in jazz (guitar), but spends many hours painting watercolours of places he has visited while whitewater canoeing, including many remote Ontario parks and Alberta mountain scenes.

Berit Gunnarsson – E111 – 110 Moccasin Trail

The Moccasin Trail Pottery studio has a variety of items all handcrafted on the lake featuring mugs, platters, bowls, plates and ornamental items. All in beautiful earth and water tone colours to match the lake.

Theresa Baird – E053 – 61 Arts Lane

Theresa is one of the featured photographers in the Six Mile Lake book. You won’t want to miss her print and canvas photography. All wildlife and lake scenery photos are from around the lake.

Barbara Eden – E053 – 61 Arts Lane

Barbara specializes in custom quilting. She will make a quilt for you of your cottage from a photo. Barbara will have some of her work on display to give you an idea of what she can do for you.

Lydia Shishkov – E052 – 53 Art’s Lane

Lydia is a hobby quilter who enjoys taking on a variety of projects. She will have several wall hangings and quilts on display. Baby quilts and handcrafted wine tote bags will be available for purchase.

Mary Boddy – E052 – 53 Art’s Lane

Mary has a variety of items for sale.  Cottage, Christmas and autumn themed table placemats, runners and quilts. Her knitting includes children sweaters and hats for all ages.  Custom made-to-order children’s hats will be featured. Choose from the many animal styles and colours.

Graeme Chalmers – S084 – 50 Trans Canada Bay Road

You will be amazed at the  collection of handcrafted unique, colourful birdhouses which are all functional and decorative with whimsical additions. Graeme is a retired UBC professor of Art Education. He also has other Yard Art for sale.

Millie Cumming – S084 – 50 Trans Canada Bay Road

You won’t want to miss Millie’s quilting. Her themes are cottage country, family memories, recycling fabrics including vintage linens. She is an avid quilter having won several awards for her quilts. Some of her quilting is travelling worldwide on display at various quilting shows.
