All Six Mile Lake residents have been invited to participate in the 13th Annual Canoe for Cancer Event on Sunday, September 1st, 2013.

This unique event starts upstream of the Big Chute and the canoes and kayaks begin their 13 km voyage to Port Severn Park riding down the Marine Railway. There is a break at the GPCA Clubhouse and the event finishes with a lunch at Port Severn Park.

The schedule is:

  • 9:00am Registration, T-Shirt and water pick up at Big Chute
  • 9:30am First heat photo in Big Chute Marine Railway
  • 10:00am Second heat photo in Big Chute Marine Railway
  • 11:00am Stop and break at the Clubhouse in Burrows Bay for water, apples and energy snacks
  • 1:00pm Arrive at Port Severn Park for lunch and resuscitation!
  • 2:00pm Thanks, recognition of sponsor (s) and volunteers and wrap-up

This event has raised between $20,000 and $30,000 for the Canadian Cancer Society each year!
