septictank
Above all else, water is the one thing that binds us (in a good way) on Six Mile Lake. Water is the singular resource that we all share and, hopefully, cherish. Our understanding of the lake and our impact on it is essential to its continued health. Like many of you, I tend to take for granted the convenience of washing dishes, doing a load of laundry or flushing the toilet. And, I give little thought to the behind-the-scenes workings of my septic system. Knowing what goes on in our septic system is the first step in protecting our lake.

I came across an informative, entertaining, short video that explains how your septic system works. Thanks to the Coalition of Haliburton Cottagers Association for producing and sharing this excellent piece. Take the 20 minutes to learn what goes on and what goes wrong in this most basic system that we all have. Looking forward to another great year on our ‘healthy’ lake.
