Township owned public boat ramps have been closed effective April 15, 2020.
The motion to close the ramps was heard at a Special Meeting, held virtually, on April 14, 2020.
The full motion read as follows:
- WHEREAS the Province of Ontario declared a state of emergency on March 17,2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic;
- AND WHEREAS the Township of Georgian Bay made a declaration of emergency on March 27, 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic;
- AND WHEREAS the Province of Ontario deemed marinas as non-essential service on April 3, 2020;
- AND WHEREAS the province of Ontario ordered the closure of all communal or shared, public or private, outdoor recreational amenities everywhere in Ontario on March 30, 2020.
- NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT Council hereby closes the municipal boat launches for public access
- AND THAT the municipality owned boat launches will remain closed until the Province has ended the order which deems marinas as non-essential services
- AND THAT the unbudgeted costs to a maximum of $7000 be approved for the concrete barriers
The motion was put forward by Councillor Bochek, seconded by Councillor Douglas and was carried with a recorded vote of 5-2 as follows:
